The pandemic has already turned out to be an enormous hardship for performing artists. We have also canceled all of our concerts through the spring. Physical isolation is the right thing to do, but we all have a need for community, and musicians need work.
Our response is to take Streamside Concerts online. We will be coordinating with other local hosts in this endeavor as well. You will be able to watch a show online from the comfort and safety of home, be able to interact (via chat) with other viewers, and contribute your donation to the artists via PayPal, Venmo (or other pay platform) as you would if you were attending a physical show. I hope this will give us a sense of connection as well as have a way to help sustain musicians through this crisis.
We’re in the process of arranging concerts right now. So far, we have Asheville guitarist Shane Parish on March 21, Jazz guitarist Sean McGowan on April 10, Guitarist Fabio Mittino (who is quarantined in Milan, date TBD), and the wonderful Trio Sefardi from Washington DC (soon, but date TBD). We will be announcing more soon.
So what you will do is check the list and RSVP for a show at STREAMSIDEMUSIC.COM , and you will receive an email with a link to the concert. Tune in at the right time, and enjoy the show. You will then have an opportunity to contribute your donation online directly to the artist.
Let’s keep the music alive during the pandemic.
